Highlander project will extend and complement MISTRAL project and will pose the basis for the deploy of a more comprehensive National Meteorological, Climate and related Hazards Open Data Portal.
The Highlander project compared to Mistral has a more direct link with the territory. The territory, in particular the Italian one, is a complex mosaic of different uses of the soil, but the conservation of environmental resources, as well as the management of natural and semi-natural ecosystems and human sectors, are still treated sparsely, with disciplines and decision makers who proceed separately.
Highlander aims to contribute to the construction of an integrated and multi-actor approach at the landscape level, which allows better management. To this end, through the use of High Performance Computing, Highlander will allow the processing of data to generate climate forecasts and reduce the risks associated with climate change, for a more appropriate and sustainable management of natural resources and the territory.
